JUST A FEW FOLKS with SOME NICE THINGS TO SAY
Thanks to you for everything. You
guys were awesome, and everyone had great things to say about your performance.
I will definitely keep your contact info for any future events we do in Chicago.
If you guys ever play in Connecticut, let me know!
Lincoln Financial Group, September 13, 2006
I am absolutely knocked-out by what I have heard on your live cd. I have ordered a copy through cdbaby and can't wait to hear the recording in it's entirety. Any chance you'll ever get to Portland, OR; and if you have already been here when are you coming back? I informed two of Portland's top radio stations to get off their asses and give you guys a listen. Can't wait to hear more from you-all. Yours in the blues-Scott October , 2005
Just wanted to thank you again for playing
at our party. It was a huge comfort to not have to worry about "the band"
because we knew all the specifics were in such good hands. I cannot even
tell you the number of people who said wonderful things about the guys. I
have already had several people ask me the name of the band and request your
telephone number.

I cued up the CD and it pounded out "Boom, Boom, Out Go the Lights" with nice horn lines and the harp joining in; nice Chicago Blues served up ala The Blues Brothers. Then comes the second tune, a Skip Towne And The Greyhounds original, "Bullet Proof Heart". My first thought is that this ain't no Blues Brothers rip off band. The song features tasty lap steel guitar and electric harp with bluesy rhythm guitar. The CD proves to be an eclectic menu of blues fare as each tune unfolds.
The band covers broad ground on "Hit The Bricks" by interpreting diverse songs from Albert King's "I Get Evil" with its King-esque lead fills and funky piano accompaniment, down and dirty baritone sax solo, and cool horn lines...to the hip cool version of Willie Nelson's "Nightlife" with its sultry sax and harp solos. The band includes two more original tunes after "Bullet Proof Heart".... "I Ain't Got Nobody" and "I Don't Feel Like Rockin' The Blues". The latter is a big city, mellow tune....with soprano sax and brushes on the drum kit. The constants that carry through "Hit The Bricks" are great sax solos by Tom Trinka cool harp by Peter Quinn, and solid back up from a tight rhythm section. I consider this Chicago band's "Hit The Bricks" to be a good driving-down-the-highway CD.... the kind you can stick in the CD player and cruise up the interstate and never skip a tune. "Blues that
the Blues Brothers would like. One hears that this band is very
professional and that the musicians have played hundreds of gigs. Their own
compositions like "Bulletproof Heart" are good but too few. The
conversions are perfectly played as well, like Taj Mahal's "Mailbox
Blues". Everyone who likes this kind of music should buy this
excellent CD (without any hesitation!)".

I have, "a
copy of your album, "Hit The Bricks" and I played "Bulletproof
Heart" on my last show to a good response. Thanks for giving us the
opportunity to hear your great music in this neck of the woods. Who knows,
maybe we might find Skip one day."

"Thank you !! We received a copy of Skip Towne and the Greyhounds
recently. I have enjoyed listening to the disc and am planning lots of
airplay. You've already received airplay with more to come."

"Thank you for the Skip Towne CD. I like my blues with a dash of
swing, so your CD went down a treat. I'm playing "Boom,
Boom...Lights", "Don't Worry Baby" & " I Get Evil".

"We
look forward to producing strong sales results for you."

"We've
got the fabulous sounds of Skip Towne & The Greyhounds and I'm excited to
have Skip Towne and pals with us, as they happen to be one of my personal
favorites as well as a favorite of Crawdaddy Bayou staff, and guests."

I've
heard nothing but good about the Greyhounds...I would promote your disc with
each vehicle I'm involved with. I'd be happy to feature anything you send
me and I'd be happy to do some leg work and help in any way I can."

"I
thought the strongest material on the disc were your originals.
"BULLETPROOF HEART", knocked me out. "I AIN'T GOT
NOBODY" and "I DON'T FEEL LIKE ROCKIN' THE BLUES" are splendid tunes
as well...I thought the cover tunes were fine, it's just that I believe the CD
and the band would have been better served showcasing the talent and the obvious
creative powers with the group by including more original material on the
release. It shows that ya'll work really well together and have a
connection many groups lack. I can see why you guys are playing almost
every night of the week. Fine project guys. I intend to play
"Bulletproof" on next Monday's show."

"I
am particularly interested in your latest release "HIT THE BRICKS",
I've heard it is exceptional."

"Just
a note to thank you for the album. It's a good 'un. My favorite
track is "TORE DOWN". I've been playing Freddy King's version
and also Clapton's version, but I'll play yours also in a future show. I
also liked Larry Davis' song "HELP THE POOR" and Willie Nelson's
"NIGHTLIFE". Thanks again and good luck with the album...I'll
give it a good bit of airplay."

"Skip
Towne
& The Greyhounds sound like they've spent a lotta time on the tour bus -
Music guaranteed to rock any roadhouse on the highway."

"All
in all, a very respectable and tasteful album...the playing was very good and
feeling full, the band was exceptionally solid, and there was a level of
professionalism that I rarely hear from a local band I don't know...this was
still way better than 90% of the material I receive and there was a lot here for
you to be proud of...I think you've got a good band and have done a good job
presenting yourselves. Thanks for sharing the good music"
